Tense moments unfolded at the Mapusa Police Station after a group of local goldsmiths gathered in support of two fellow goldsmiths detained by Andhra Pradesh Police. The duo was allegedly arrested for purchasing 150 grams of gold each from suspected thieves who travelled to Goa to sell stolen ornaments. According to the Mapusa goldsmith community, the AP officers did not produce any arrest warrant or proper documents during the operation and failed to give satisfactory clarification. The goldsmiths have now sought answers from Mapusa Police regarding the legality and procedure of the arrests.
